Mentally ill or just tired or something?

I kind of have nightmares during the day, I can't think of a better description. For example today I was in the bathroom %26 I suddenly got the idea into my head that there was someone outside in the hall with a knife. I knew I was being stupid but I still locked the door.
Could this be tiredness or something and how do I stop it?
Thanks x
Answer:
This is probably going to sound really silly to you, but when such thoughts happen, address them by telling them (forcefully) to go away! "I reject you! You are an unwelcome thought! Go AWAY!"

Sounds ridiculous, I know... but it really works! Treat such thoughts and feelings as if THEY are unwanted, threatening intruders. Take control %26 make them leave. Try it. It may take several times, or even many. But with each rejection, they deminish.

Next, look at what you watch and fill your mind with. Do you watch a lot of horror? News? Or other things that would draw such thoughts to you?

Treat this as something you can take control of. If you have other questions, just emailme, Love. Good Luck %26 God Bless.
You might want to start by going to your medical doctor or school counselor (if you're in school) to rule out anything medical or stress related. They can then refer you to a psychiatrist to determine if you are suffering from mental illness or not.
I think that you should really talk to someone like a doctor or something especially if it scares you. You should not have to feel scared like this. I don't know if lack of sleep would cause such day dream type problems. Good luck!
It's possible that you could have a serious problem, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder. I would recommend that you have yourself evaluated. The symptoms that you describe sound like more than just sleep deprevation.
It's called too many horror films too late at night... These images do stay with you you know...

I remember after watching The Exorcism of Emily Rose, that I consistently woke up at 3:00 am every morning afterward, for like a week and freaked out for like an hour before being able to fall back asleep.

ease up on the horror flicks for a while... especially the really graphic ones like Saw and silent Hill.
Well if you were actually hallucinating then yes it could maybe be a sign of tiredness. If you are deprived of sleep, then you effectively start to dream whilst you are awake, hallucinations. But this is usually only when people have a very limited amount of sleep.

But you just said you thought that maybe someone was behind the door, not that you saw someone behind the door in which case no I wouldn't think it would be due to tiredness. If you are actually hallucinating though, I'd go to a doctor or mental-health proffesional, because that can be a sign of a problem.

You likely are just having a bit of an over-active imagination. I'm not at all qualified to speak about it, but my suggestions would be maybe limit the stimulents on your mind, such as drinking lots of things like coffee, and limit what television you watch. Especially horror films!

It can also be a bit of paranoia starting, but i wouldn't worry too much about it, unless it gets really extreme that you start to think people are always there coming for you (then definitely go to a doctor).

Try to stop it now by not giving in to it. You said you locked the door anyway, but force yourself not to (only when it's just the bathroom door of course! Not your actual house door :P) so you aren't giving in to the thoughts. Force yourself to ignore them, otherwise they could start to get a bit controling of your behaviour and can become obsessive.
omg! I do this from time to time also. For me this happens after a severe tragedy or death. When Pope John Paul II passed away two years ago, I felt that he was there out in the hallway at night watching me. It was so weird. Then a couple of days ago I heard about Cho Seung and saw that scary video and pics of him on my living room tv (on the six oclock news) i could not leave the living room to go to my room because I was too scared (maybe he was there out in the dark hallway ready to shoot me or threaten me). I have never had a close person die nor have I been in a very threatening situation which neared me to death yet I have these weird feelings sometimes. They dont last very long. Sometimes I get preoccupied with them but then something happy usually distracts me so I forget. I feel like such a paranoid freak and when I talk to people about these types of things they laugh at me and call me crazy. I don't think it has to with tiredness and I dont think we are mentally ill. We must just be severely paranoid about things that we see on a day to day basis. I know I am supposed to help you but if you can find out why you do this from a real expert please let me know. thanks.
Talk to someone or just think about what can be making you have nightmares and think things like that. That would sometimes happen to me at night, but only if i remember a scary movie or a scary experience in my life.
Many things could cause this. If possible, can you get a physcial check-up with blood work to see if everything is OK physically? Why are you tired? Are you sleep deprived? Are you on any new medications? Get the results of a physical exam and figure out why you are tired (can't sleep as opposed to not enough time to sleep) before you look for a scarier mental issue.

Most things can be handled easily and well if caught early enough. Check into it now before things get any worse. Don't worry about an extreme mental illness. As long as you are thinking you are being stupid (which you are not) you are still thinking logically. Try not to worry it will only make things worse.

Mental Tiredness?

My eyes kinda feel heavy, and I pretty much have trouble focusing on things, this happens when I just took a 1 hour nap.
Answer:
Um, Im pretty sure this is totally normal. You have this certain gland in your brain, forgot what its called, but I think it starts with a 'P'. This tells the difference between night and day and basically schedules your metabolism's alarm clock. Taking does help improve brain functioning, but if it's not a habit that you do every day, it will make you tired bbecause your body's not used to it. I hope this helps!
Being mentally drained is becoming more common in today's day. It's a sign of stress in your everyday life. Help to lessen this by easing your stressors, getting lots of rest and eating balanced meals. Try yoga or some form of relaxation techniques to reduce stress and feel mentally healthy.

Mental question good anwers please?

the happy pill been on it for years kept me sane anyone ele on it i suffer from depression been in a nut house years ago it was good tho but prozac seems to be wearing off so not happy anymore, wot next best thing anyone knows thanks no bad comments
Answer:
See a doctor, I wouldn't put my health issues in the hands of complete strangers
See you psychiatrist. They can switch you to a new one. The new ones seem to be better with less side effects.
Have you tried taking St John's Wort. That is supposed to be a natural anti-depressant, my hubby has taken it for years, he's not sure whether it works, but is afraid to stop in case it does. He feels fine. May conflict with other medication though, always check with your doctor if you are taking other stuff.
Start eating seafood daily and drink 8 cups of water daily. In about four months you should see results, this will potentially cure your depression.
Sorry to hear your feeling sad i wish i could come up with something have you gone back to your doctor he or she will have to give you something to help you there is alot of questions on this site about depression look at there answers aswel it helped me feel abit better!.. look after your self k!
perhaps you could talk to a pharmacists about medication options in general, then see your GP, consultant or psychiatrist about it - i think this is something you should discuss with medical staff.
alternatively you could discuss it with someone from NHS direct on 0845 4647 (24 hours a day) http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/contact/...
to follow on with the seafood suggestion... this is because fish is 'brain food'. it will help you sort through your problems, but you do need to eat a lot of it (and even if you take a bunch of trace element supplements as well, good! the sort of pills that scholars take for exceptionally difficult, long and drawn-out exams). Unless your brain is given the chance/nutrients it needs to 'burn' in the process of working out what depresses you, the cycle wont be beaten.
I strongly suggest you stay on medication and do not eat seafood to "figure out what depresses you". The answer is likely to be "life".
Prozac is known for working well for a long time and suddenly with no reason no longer working.

When this happened to me, my doctor suggested stopping for three days and starting again. It worked... for one more year. Once it stopped the second time, it never worked again. But before you try that I would suggest you check with your doctor.

I would talk to a psychiatrist to be sure. But I would say you may be able to increase the dosage, on your current med. Or you may need to try another SSRI.

Good Luck. Hope This Helps
I would go and talk to your GP - there's loads of drugs that have come out in recent years that might suit you better, but only your doctor would be able to tell you what. Sorry
consult a herbalist or visit a Health Food Shop %26 ask about Herbal alternatives for Prozac.
there's more than 1 way 2 control depression.
plenty of very old reliable herbal remedies that are better for you.
st johns wort is 1 %26 it has been used for thousands of years to ease depression.
Next best thing is private therapy.
trust your GP
I agree with Natalie.
There are so many different ones out there. Lexapro is very helpful.
I have to wonder though, what has happened to make you feel bad again.
Situation in life changed??
When's the last time you had a complete physical?
Do you exercise at all? No it's definitely not a cure-all, but it does help.
See your doc. God Bless
Like with every drug that's taken over a long period, you're going to have to go through a down period before you get up again. Take each day as it comes and find things that you can focus on that will make you happy. Whether it being starting a new hobby, meeting with friends or family, or aiming towards a dream that you've always wanted to achieve. You don't need any drug to make you happy, you've just become dependent on them that's all. Please don't give up and just look forward to the next chapter of your life that you'll be able to live. You can do anything you want to so keep at it and you'll soon change. Another thing you could look into is your diet. Make sure you're eating healthy fresh foods as junk food can also add towards bad moods. Exercise would also be good for you as your body releases endorphins which make you happy! Best of luck :)

I've just seen that a lot of people are suggesting higher doses or other drugs! Don't listen to them. That will only make things better in the short term which isn't what you need. You need to learn to live without relying on drugs otherwise you're not in control of your life. It's a scary place to be but you must gain control without drugs, therapy is a much better method.
you might have to change your medicine, or add another one to it.talk to your doctor. i started out with zoloft,2 years later he added wellibupron, and klonpin for nerves.sometimes theyjust have to try different kinds to get it right. i have major depression. but all together the meds. work. i have been hospitalised 4 times because, i had to get my meds. straightend out.
Honestly, I think the best thing would be a good diet, lots of vitamins, and a lot of exercise (at least one looong walk daily)

Since your body is used to having the drugs suppress the problem instead of actually handling it, you need to work on handling it for good. Eating healthy and taking vitamins (as well as getting lots of sleep) will help you feel better and more able to handle situations without the help of drugs. Taking a walk or a run outside will help you expand your awareness of things around you so your attention isn't always being drawn inwards.
You could try either Xanex (I think that's how it is spelt), or Frisium. Also, as others have suggested, go out walking or some type of exercise as it really does help. I find that if you keep your mind busy %26 occupied, you will feel much better.
why don't you try relying on yourself to make you happy rather that a pill, otherwise you'll just be searching for pills for the est of your life and what happens when you can't find that pill.
I was on prozac aswell and it did help loads, all of a sudden though my councillors and pcychologists left me.i never heard no more contact sinse, and because of my illness im the type of person who doesn't go crawling back, they abused my trust.so now i aint on prozac either.Luckily i haven't been rock bottom with out it,i came off them mainly bacause i was about to start taking pills for my weight and they wouldn't have agreed with prozac. There is stronger anti-depressents then prozac so ask your psychologist or doctor etc if you can gradually change to one of them as you dont feel prozac is working any more.Prozac is one of the weaker anti-depressents,but usually helps with treatment such as cognitive behaviour therapy.Good luck.
Sorry I alwauys thoughtthat Prozac was effective in perpetuity
I am not on it at the moment ,but i do hope that it will work again when i need to go back on it which with depression anxiety is not an if but when.

Perhaps give yourself a sabatical and make up your mind that you will go back on it at a certain date , you perhaps know by this time your depression cycle .

as far as recomending something isnt there something that you want to do something that came to you whilst you were on medication?
Cant you get to the real root of your depression tablets suppress in the long run surely exercise is good long brisk walks that's what i do when I'm feeling down there again its easy to say things so i hope you get on OK what ever you do
I think its time you went back to your doctor and told him you are feeling unhappy maybe he can give you some other drug that will help.
coming down off Prozac will do this for months so why not ask you GP for 10 mg Diazepam that should hold you steady

Mental Problems?

Look, there are quite a few quirks in me which I still don't get, and I would like a nice answer to maybe see what is it that goes inside my head. I have numbered them, so maybe you can answer each you one numbered as well. Feel free to present experiences and ideas as well. And remember: Promote RESPECT. No trolling nor flaming please.

[kthxbai] :)

01: Sometimes, I leave my iPod on when I go to sleep, and without noticing, I may have the song in repeat. Eventually, when I wake up, it sounds different. I may hear it again, but it may have a different tone, like high pitched beat, or squeeky voice.

02: As I said above about music, I sometimes hear songs at different paces. At times, I listen to fast paced beats, meanwhile I hear the same one maybe another day at a slower pace. Don't know why. :S

03: For some reason, people are attracted to eyes and hands... I'm attracted to feet, and glasses for some reason as well...

Thanks In Advance For Your Help!
Answer:
You might have a hearing poblem with regards one and two, or a problem with the part of your brain that affects hearing. Do you hear sounds differently often? So long as you don't hear voices or feel paranoia connected with it, I think you're fine.

Foot fetishes are perfectly normal (to do with mix-ups in the part of your brain that controls arousal, as genitalia is next to feet in the body map... or something), and liking glasses is, although not as well heard of, not exactly going to harm anybody. Possibly it is a sign of liking intelligence/older people, depending on circumstance.

I hope that helped.
for problems 1 and 2 check your batteries... these machines are never made perfect. for #3 we are all different, to each their own. be glad you're different somehow. diagnosis... sorry quite normal.
I have reached a diagnosis.

Mental problem?

I need help and need to know whether this is a mental illness or something less serious.

I don't feel as though I have a personality and constantly try to invent a personality by faking my voice and emotions.
I'm constantly react in a forced and non genuine way, I seem to have lost my personality and don't know how to talk and communicate effectively.

I'm on a work trial and it is effecting my communication on the phone and with work staff, people are starting to realise that I'm not genuine and they are beginning to hate me.
I'm constantly aware of my presence, but I'm just don;t know how to comminicate to otther people without forming a false personality and voice.

How do I act normal
What is wrong with me?
I don't recognise myself anymore and can't relate myself to the past.
Help, Help, Help.

I wrote an article that hopefully will give you insight on your situation. Best of luck!

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article...
Go out with some people from work and drink like 7 beers, and everyone will love you.Alcohol is the answer temporarly...Maybe if you go out and get drunk with some other people, and they realise your pretty cool, maybe you won't have to pretend to be anyone else...if you still have a problem then see your doctor you could have social anxiety and zolof or whatever that stuff is can fix it.
look up borderline personality disorder.
one of the symptoms is:
Distortions in cognition and sense of self can lead to frequent changes in long-term goals, career plans, jobs, friendships, gender identity, and values. Sometimes people with BPD view themselves as fundamentally bad, or unworthy. They may feel unfairly misunderstood or mistreated, bored, empty, and have little idea who they are.
Sounds to me as though your showing signs of skitophrenia (MInd the spelling) or you are extremly depressed. Do you have panic / anxiety attacks? I know these symptoms as i have recently been through the same sort of thing , im now on medicationfor lfe although i am myself again . Go to the docs and speak to them and they will refer you if need be. 40 mg citalopram would help.
i would have a nice holliday relax and that might losen you up
No, you sound to be like a normal american citizen
It sounds as though you may be going through personal identity crisis. Talk to a professional as they can help you sort out your thoughts and feelings. Try not to become discouraged as this does occur occassionally. Follow your own instincts and what your likes and dislikes are for start. You really do know yourself best and no one needs to change themselves. Perhaps you are trying to "fit in". Talk to someone. Contact mental health in you area.
It sounds like you're under a lot of stress. You need to go see a doctor and tell her/him what you've posted here. They should refer you to a counselor for testing. Testing should help you identify what's going on. It sounds like counseling would be helpful to you. There may be medication that can help, too. Call your doctor today. If you call and talk to the nurse, the doctor may be able to make a referral and get you to someone who can help right away.

Don't continue to suffer. Life is too short for that. Do something about it today, even if it's just making the appointment.
Find your voice don't feel bad for some reason you feel iniquity.
Hi there

to me this sounds unclear, it could be something such as depression, or it could be something more complex although treatable. i think you should contact your GP though, and not rely on an answer from us.
I think you are probably suffering from low self esteem. You may be doing this because you are nervous or because you want people to like you or accept you.

You can get books on how to improve self esteem or you could go on a confidence course.

I am not sure how old you are but i felt more like that when i was younger. If you have identified a problem you are half way there. Try to be yourself if possible but it is difficult at work as you try to put on a work persona because of your work duties and what the company expects of you. You need to develop your own style and not copy others.
Many people are not as confident as they seem and their confidence may not be how they feel inside. Some people act as if they are confident that is they imagine how a confident person would act and take on those characteristics.
You are not a fake you are just learning about yourself and where you fit in. It is hard if where you are working is very competitive and people have cliques or groups they hang round in if you feel you need to be in with the in crowd to be accepted. You have said what you are doing is not working so try something else. If you get overanxious about it it could make it worse. Try to chill a little and work out who you want to be rather than what you are expected to be.
This could be a symptom of many different things. Maybe:
1) depression. Maybe you have been depressed for some time with out actually realising.dignosing it, which result in you feeling like this now
2) Autistic spectrum - where one of the symptoms would include the inability to form relationships/friendships, and then need to compensate by rehearsed - non genuine conversation, in order to fit in with society.
3) very low self esteem and just not knowing who youare. Maybe CBT would help with this? Might be worth looking into?? Cognitive behavoiur therapy.

Talk to your GP about this. You dont want to go thorugh life feeling like this, 1 in 3 people suffer with mental health, so dont feel alone or like you are the first to tell a GP you feel like this. Maybe you will be referred to the mental health team, so they can assess you.
see a dcotor you might be sufering borderlin bipolar disorder

Mental power?

I am a sort of bright student.(I've scored 93% in my last class). But when I attend some other class (like NTSE classes or anything extra-curricular like that), I find that the mental alertness is not there.(like, I learn a new concept, and the teacher gives some notes on that. But I fully understand the concept, only when I got through it at home slowly). Again, during class room situations, I seem to be very slow(I am doing the 3rd ques when my friend etc are doing the 8th etc) My speed seems to decline considerably in the classroom, while i can do the same thing quite fast at home.
Please give my some tips to increase my speed. Thanks
Answer:
Everyone learns at their own pace. Being able to regurgiate information isn't a way to decide intelligence.

Slower learning means you will also retain the information longer. So don't change a thing. If it is a big concern talk to your teach and maybe you can get some in school assistance.

If you are in college you might get an hour or two of tutoring and use it to talk to them about study habbits.

Out side of those ideas, many people turn to meditation and breathing techniques to help remove the stress of situations where they might feel a tendancy to get a mental block when they feel on the spot.
Concentration.
At ur home ur relaxed in ur own atmosphere
friends put u off and ppl in class mayb u cud do sum stuff in a quiet classroom on ur own in lunch break or after school
also take omega three its good for ya and ur brain
Anxiety can affect how you comprehend questions.
