Okay, just recently I've beeing "seeing stuff %26%26 hearing stuff" ... I know it's actually happening because I've gotten a fine %26%26 a palent %26%26 a necklace from it... anyways, about a day in a half ago, I was singing a song to my old stuff animals, then voices in my head told me " you'll find what you are looking at your old house tonight alone bring no one " .. I went, but I went at 8ish, nothing happened but there was gibberish over the walls around 11ish a spirit.. came and brought me, took me back in time what happened in that house etc... there was scratches all over me... i got a tresspassing fine from being there, but.. why was I bleeding in the shower? :%26#92; from the scratches?
Answer:
I'm not sure but what ever happened sounds really scarey to me i would visit your doctor and explain this to him.
have you had a traumatic event in your life recently that might trigger your brain to think and say weird things,I'm not sure what else to suggest but i hope you are OK now .
take care
Lay off the hootch
I think maybe you should ask your doctor, he can treat the scratches at the same time.
wow thats scary! u need to seek med help b 4 u get hurt
Hi,
That sounds really bad, i hope your ok. You shouldn't listen to these voices, espcially if they are putting you in dangerous situations..like being at your own late at night. I think you need to go to your Gp and get refered to a phychiatric nurse for an assessment. This sounds worse than it is, it's juat a little questionnaire thing but it will help them clarify what's going on and perhaps give ou something to stop the voices. Many individuals experience this type of thing...if they didn't there would be many mental health professionals out of work.
For your own safety please go and seek someone as soon as possible.
Best of luck

Medecine for depression?
Do you guys know any good medice for depression sold over the counter...
Answer:
no and meds are high priced which is more depressing watch something funny and try to get a good belly laugh once or twice a day . mad tv is crazy in itself saturday nite live usually has laugh or three in it.. may G-D BLESS you from all of it
Yes, pure water and to make it work, relax and clear your mind.
ME!
You should never take medication for depression that ,I don't think there is any, that is sold over the counter. Antidepressant medication needs to be monitored by at least a MD. If you take to much, to little, or not the right thing could leave you worse off then when you started. Please speak with a doctor. And you might not need medication for depression it might be a hormone based thing and a doctor is the person you need to speak with. Good Luck
LUNA THERE IS NOTHING OVER THE COUNTER FOR DEPRESSION.IF IT IS SO BAD YOU CAN'T FUNCTION IN LIFE CALL YOUR DR.I HOPE THINGS GET BETTER FOR YOU SWEETIE(((((HUG))))
You can find many ways to manage stress. Vitamin B12 helps the nervous system and anxiety, and there are alot of other vitamins like magnesium, that help also. Try looking on the internet for more information about it. That's what I did and it helps.
there's something in chocolate that helps
Yes round trip tickets with a friend to visit a distant friend.

Marijuana?
i smoked Marijuana four days ago, but i still feel kinda weird since that day, i feel my nerves are paralized and my brain is somewhere else. whats the best solution for this? what can i do? please help?
Answer:
Dang, still feeling it 4 days later? Must have been a fun day. Get some exercise, take some vitamins, drink lots of fluids (cranberry juice is best for this purpose), and get some caffeine in you to get you feeling more alert. The combination of those things should get it completely out of your system in a few days if that was the only time you've ever done it. Honestly though, I've never heard of a high lasting more than 2-3 days at the most. The majority of your affects are probably psychological or you may be catching a cold or something.
dont use it again, get enough sleep drink lots of water. takin drugs kills your brain cells, they can make you paranoid and very ill.
make sure you dont sleep too much, get something to concentrate on, you have damaged your brain and body but, just like after a hangover after a few drinks the night before; you will come back round to normality but if you continue to use this substance you eventually will experience non reversible results.
good luck
Get up outta bed.
Sleep.
if it effects you like that don't smoke again. some people get weirded out. it can stay in your system up to 30 days, so u may feel weird until it's totally out of your system. not to say it will take the whole 30 days, if you only did it that one time it will be out sooner. glad i don't get like that.
pure orange juice
do it again
Stop thinking about it. Its probably psychological.
You should relax and drink some water.. its probablt just a headache.
it was 4 days ago your fine, how you feel now has nothing to do with smoking pot once 4 days ago.
That's not the marijuana. That sounds like some kind of anxiety. Perhaps, anxiety over trying pot for the first time and the effects of anti-drug programs. You're fine. Go do something else.
Either that or, you have one seriously weak mind/brain.
Drink a lot of water and exercise
honestly its probably not related to smoking some weed
My half sister ruined her brain with that garbage; it isn't illegal as a means of spoiling your fun.
either you had an allergic reaction or it was laced

Marijuana is it good or bad?
is it bad for you some people told me its good but ehh don't know a lot about it but i know it ***** you up
Answer:
good for medical purposes
there are cases where it's medical and cases when its being used as its not intended to
had some good years - but there is a time when it should end
You seem to know the answer. It causes severe mental problems like schizophrenia and psychoses. It is also more of a cancer causing substance than tobacco.
Smoking marijuana slows your brain down. You're not sharp and it's very difficult to concentrate. Smoking marijuana also increases your appetite -- and you know what happens after that, you get really fat.
Smoking marijuana is not good for you.
I smoked it for abit i believe its fun but not to smoke it all the time..! i used to smoke it once every month! i dont think its bad.
Although my mate that smoked it with me he got quite bad from it, and started getting all panicky and depressed!
(i dont smoke it anymore)
I can tell u from experience that its bad.used to use it years ago and the good times didnt last too long and it left me depressed, better without it !
I think like everything else it is ok to smoke occasionally but when people do it all the time then yes it can **** you up. i used to work with a guy that was quite clever in school and he is now a very paranoid man and really struggles to hold a decent conversation with you - he smoked pot daily for years.
The only thing you should suck into your lungs is FRESH AIR/
anything else is harmful.
its bad, it can cause an addiction, and can affect your ability to do things you could easly do normally, like drive a car or other things, sometimes people can get a perscription, but thats only if your doctor advises it.
According to some 'experts' long term use causes schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. It's obviously not going to be good for you, no mind changing substances are good for you.
The smoke is bad for your lungs, but there are many good aspects also. Overall, I think it is good for you.
From the experience and the things I got out of marijuana, I can tell you that it's bad. It made me slow, paranoid, depressed and even schizophrenic. I ended up hospitalized after heavy use of the drug [I smoked for 5 years straight, but didn't start to smoke it every day until I was 16].
I started smoking everyday at the age of 16 after my grandmother's death. IT'S BAD. Stay away from it, unless you enjoy taking all these different meds. afterwards, and being hospitalized for depression and other mental problems.
honestly is good for the people that are depressed. it give a bit energy to the person and also some appetite to eat. for people who have cancer can slow down the process
I like it, and even though I don't smoke it anymore I think that if you do it, you should be alone by yourself or with others who aren't going to bust you for smoking it. damn laws.
yes, it does **** you up. Stay away from all mind altering drugs.
in my own personal experience marijuana can be a very life damaging drug but in other cases it is basically not what you do but how you do it take the drug dont let it take you to places that you really wish not to go
It's bad man. I smoked this killer bud once and for a week i couldn't remember where I parked my car. Just say no man. I mowed my lawn for a month before I realized it wasn't my lawn. It was even my street.
It is the same with any drug be it legal or illegal.
Each drug affects people differently and a great deal of that depends on what is being taken, the individuals personal state of mind, quantity and quality. Also the social environment that the individual is in.
There are also the hidden dangers that may manifest later in life such as dependency, depression, cancer related disease's and psychosis.
If you are in any doubt, dont do it. Dont feel you need to just because your friends are using it.
No, it isn't very healthy, but comparatively it is not nearly as bad as alcohol (you never hear people dropping dead from marijuana poisoning) and is probably not much different than tobacco health wise (more damaging, but then chronic use of marijuana is considered more than three joints a week while your average smoker can go through packs a day) it is also not nearly as addictive as tobacco. It can cause mental problems, but prolonged use is needed, unlike meth which can f#@! you up after a few uses.
That being said I don't agree much with the abuse of marijuana anymore than I agree with the abuse of alcohol, but I can accept it as an occasional indulgence, thankfully there are some adults out there that can have a good time without being excessive about it. On the legal perspective, it is hypocritical that it is illegal because compared to other addictive substances is no more or less harmful that tobacco or alcohol, and has been used by people for just as long. But will legalizing it help the problem? I don't think it will stop any of the people from using it, but it might put an end to some drug trafficking problems, which is just as important.
I have a bad past. In a nut shell there are better legal grugs to take its place. Just smoke it in Europe and everybody has a different legal opinion in California.
Do you really expect anyone to believe you don't already know the answer to your own question. You are just hoping that some fool says its really good for you so you can sleep easy.
Cannabis increases the risk of depression and schizo-affective disorders including schizophrenia itself.
More importantly all chronic users can expect a degree of brain atrophy = shrinkage. This causes or accelerates dementia.
personally i think its good it chills you out makes you feel content and happy just to kick back and listen to some wicked tunes it changes your view on the world and genrally makes you feel good (well it does with me anyway) plus then there are the medicinal benifits to it, so yea i think its ace and if everyone smoked pot the world would be one hell of a better place
"Cannabis increases the risk of depression and schizo-affective disorders including schizophrenia itself." Hi-larious! dont believe that! i was told that all the time by, oh surprise, doctors! its not true, UNLESS you have a predisposition to these disorders. if i hear that one more time.!! they just use that as a scare tactic for kids, which it sounds like you are one or else you wouldnt be asking. therefore, when youre mature, you can decide that one for yourself. And from the sounds of it, you arent, because FYI it doesnt "f you up". i smoke before my grandmas, and my therapist, who was apparently an addiction specialist, and couldnt even tell when i had, by his own omission. Its definitly the 'devils juice'. come on..!! please
Well if you smoke marjuna once in a while it is fine just don't make it a habit.
It's ok to use it for some medical purposes. But just smoking for the sake of it.not good.
It can give you brain defects and make you slow. It can give you severe mental illnesses such as depression, schitzophrenia, psychosis and anxiety disorders. And it's addictive, it destroys ur lungs...and in very rare cases can have a dramatic drop in the ability of your ammune system to function properly
Good for pain but not good for the memory.
personally i don't like the stuff makes me feel depressed and i don't like the affect it has on people but a few of my friends and family do it and i may not agree with it but its up to them and i really doubt if they band it any one would stop (in Holland its legal i don't know about anywhere else), i believe it causes long term damage but so many other things do too so wheres the limit? id say try it if you like it well then good for you just don't let it take over your life. you will have to try it yourself and draw your own conclusions
they say that marijuna is ok but it becomes additive and yoiur life can revolve around it. In small doses it is fine. After all its only a plant but try to only take it now and again if you have to. It can make you less inhibitred which means you may do things that you would not normally do.
its bad.

Marijuana induced psychosis/schizophrenia?
About three months ago I experienced a very bad trip on marijuana. It is very hard to explain the feeling but it felt like life was a broken record (everything was repeating) I also felt very disassociated with my self and reality. My body went numb. It felt like a part of me died that night. A number of reasons could have caused my bad trip (enviroment, lighting, I was peer pressured and was worried about being caught) The following month was very hard for me as I experienced depersonalization/derealizatio... most of the day. This slowly went away when I learned more about the condition, started taking cod liver oil, and comfort from my family. I seemed to have recovered fully for the most part for a month. Last weekend I was invited into the same basement i had experienced my trip. Again they were smoking and I really didn't want to be there (I guess I easily fall under peer pressure) Of course I did not smoke but I couldnt help to think about my experience there... --- continued--
Answer:
I assume you live in the united states. Anyway, Weed in other countries is used to help depression. So the weed didn't do that to you. It is a downer, it helps you relax. I smoke a lot, almost everyday. And i get that same cloudy feeling sometimes. It's pretty normal because most people i know get it also ( i myself am 16 btw). If it makes you uncomfortable to be around then dont do it. It can be fun. It reacts different with different people. Different types of weed can make you feel different then another type. I've never heard of weed being connected to schizophrenia. Im a pyschology buff, and i've done several research papers on schizophrenia. So lets just say i know my stuff, not like a pro, but i know what its about. Weed doesn't cause a mental disease. I'd be freggin insane by now if it did. Just chill out. The stuff was probably laced with coke, i bet your heart started racing and you got sweaty huh? Coke and Meth, two things weed gets laced with often, can cause those effects. However, weed is supposed to make you feel "good" and a dreamlike state is what your body does sometimes. Your not mentally sick, and it won't make you mentally sick. I also bet that it was your first time smoking, so now your worried because you don't know what you expierienced is normal or not. Well it is. So chill the heck out and your fine dude.
If you don't wanna smoke though, then stay away from the people you know do it. Like you got invited back to the place, you should've known that thats what they were gonna do. If they're your good friends, then just get up and walk out of the room until they're done. or open a window. Be smart about your decisions in life.
Peer preassure doesn't exsist. It's people trying to be something they're not so they don't get made fun of. You don't want to be the laughing stock of our friends, so you do what they do to fit in. Be your own person dude, don't be what everyone else in life wants you to be. If you continue to be everyones lil b**ch then you won't get far in life, I know thats a bit harsh, but its the truth. Make your own descions and live for yourself not everyone else.
What happened to you before is a wake-up call and a warning not to do this again. Please take better care of yourself; face your life without mind-bending drugs.
Don't destroy your life with drug abuse.
Similar findings from other teams also highlight the link between THC dose and the risk of schizophrenia-like symptoms, conference organizer Professor Robin Murray said.
“It’s no longer a contentious issue. The expert community, by and large, accepts that cannabis contributes to the onset of psychotic symptoms in general and the severe form of psychosis, schizophrenia,” he said.

you must have smoked some laced weed. it is not supposed to make you feel like that. it is supposed to make you relaxed, play your xbox 360, and eat a taco bell mexican pizza with a large brisk raspberry tea.
All that happened was you had a panic attack. I used to get them all of the time. They are due to stress and nothing specific will trigger them. But weed will. I had panic attacks for 8 years and they just stopped. I also smoke weed every day have done all of the research. It is all in your head. at the only other possibility is you could be allergic to weed, but the feeling would wear off by the next day. soooo I think it all in your head. Get over it
I empathize with everything you have wrote, and wrote so very well. I don't have anything I could add as an answer except that I have probably learned more from your question, so take this just as a comment.
Thanks for the honesty, it helps recovering people like myself.
Good question.
I've heard that hallucinagenic drugs like LSD can sort of trigger psychosis (the "trip" is sort of like psychosis anyway) in people who have schizophrenia or who have the ticking time bomb of schizophrenia that has not surfaced yet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/hallucinoge...
BUT -- marijuana didn't trigger schizophrenia for you the way you mean it if I understand your question accurately. If you heard voices, saw things that weren't there, believed irrational things (like aliens were after you, etc.) then you might have been experiencing psychosis. But de-realization and depersonalization alone don't define psychosis. In fact, depersonalization is commonly associated with mood disorders.
I have had your exact experience, twice. I couldn't stop thinking about every single negative or embarrassing I've ever experienced. It lasted a few days and gradually went away. But I swore never to do pot again or to even be around when other people were doing it. Not a moral judgement, I just know I personally can't handle it.
I should say that I have pretty serious Depression, and maybe the drug triggered something. Who knows what the chemicals in our brains are doing or interacting with at any given time?
I hope this helps. If your bad feelings keep up, please see a doc about a mood disorder, possibly depression, ok?
Good luck!
I had a similar experience with weed and other drugs. I think the weed was def. laced with something. when i was 14 i smoked sime weed and it was laced with formaldehyde the stuff that moticians embalm deap people with. That is the only time weed ever did it to me. It could be a sign that you aren't meant to be a druggie. I mean in retrospect that is the way i look at it iam not a druggie. i hope you feel better soon and NEVER do this again.
Just so you know... A recent British study has linked marijuana use ( moderate to chronic) to adult onset schizophrenia. It appears that in 85% of the cases studied of adult onset schizophrenia marijuana may have been a contributing factor to the psychotic incidents.
Jennifer F is right. It sounds like you had a panic attack.
DO NOT do something in an attempt to "fit in" or "seem cool". Do not do something just because your friends are doing it. And DO NOT do marijuana if you do not feel 100% uncomfortable about using it!
Marijuana can cause paranoia. And if you are already worried or anxious before you use it, it will make you feel a LOT worse. But it sounds like your own brain sent you on a bad trip (since you had another anxiety attack without smoking.
You need to tell your friends that you feel really uncomfortable and worried being around them while they are smoking marijuana. Either you shouldn't go over to where they smoke, or you should try to reassure yourself that there is no reason to panic when you are there.
To me, it sounds like you should not hang out with your friends while they are using.
You really hav a lot to say about this, but I don't. It's simple: It's you. Not everyone is able to smoke weed and make it a positive experience. Everyones' brain is as different as a fingerprint. Some people have pre-existing mental conditions, you are one of those. It's not such a bad thing, unless triggered by THC. I have never had an experience like that, neither has anyone I know that has smoked it.
So don't smoke it, peer pressure shows weakness, so paranoia would go with that. But it does show that marijuana alone could cause such conditions. I'm sure you're not the only one, it's the same concept as "Happy Dunks" or "Angry Drunks", everyones brain reacts differently to different substances. I would seek mental help if it continues at such a pace. Good Luck!

Good Luck!
Marijuana increase by-polar or explosive anger?
or any other mental disorder how about ADD? or can it make it help?
Answer:
Yes and no.
Personal experience, a certain type of marijuana does not mix well with my manic phase of being bipolar. I am already paranoid and delusional enough.. no way do I want to risk adding to that.. Of course, it could have been bad timing.. could have been a chemical reaction to whatever I was prescribed at the time.. could have been a lot of things.
Marijuana is a plant that has characteristics loosely based on what type it is .. there are 2 major types .. indica and sativa. The effects will be different, depending on what is most predominant in the seed the plant grows from. Unless you have a steady supply of marijuana or grow your own, you have no idea what type you are getting.. mild or potent .. It may be the stuff that plants you on your couch so you can't move or the stuff that makes you giggle at paint drying .. so it can go either way.. Giggly stuff and attention deficiency or mood disorders don't go well together. Obviously, when I am feeling down, the last thing I want to do is put another chemical in my brain that is gonna keep me on the couch.
Knowing what you have is what is important .. Yes, it can help and yes it can complicate things.
The average person knows very little about any of this.
I only know because.. I am constantly looking for things that can help me out with my affliction. I hope this helps you as well.

"People who inhaled" generally agree that it made them paranoid, apathetic, sleepy, or gave them the giggles.
I wouldn't suggest that anyone try any drug, legal, or illegal, without consulting a qualified medical doctor first.
Anger? Explosive anger after smoking pot? Haha, trust me, you'll be too lazy and hungry to bother being angry.
It doesn't cause mental illness although there are some studies that suggest a link between marijuana and schizophrenia, but the evidence is inconclusive at best. You see, these people who blame marijuana for their mental illness were probably going to go 'crazy' anyways. Then there is the likelihood they were self medicating before self awareness of mental illness.
Can it worsen mood swings? Perhaps, but perhaps not. That's something you'll have to try on your own. Obviously, your doctor isn't going to reccomend it, so don't bother speaking with that guy first!
ADD? Well, I can't imagine it would help since short term memory loss (while high/stoned) is common. It could help relax you though.
Its now been shown that the younger you are when you start the higher the risks of depression, schizophrenia and other mental health problems you will get. There is a strong link between them.
no
i have bipolar disorder and anxiety and i smoke weed a few times a day. its the only thing that has ever helped me and the only time i can think clearly. and no, it will not make mania worse because it is sedative to most people. i am not suggesting you try this because you do not know how it will effect you and some people become addicted, but some do not. and it doesn't cause explosive anger either..probably the complete opposite.
all of the studies they have done about what it does or doesn't do are not 100% true. they will say it was "implied, interpreted, linked to" generalized words. if anything - alcohol will do those things to you. it is so much worse for you then weed..it kills so many people - but thats another argument.
actually, i was reading in the newspaper today that weed [the THC in it] has helped to get rid of some types of cancer tumors in mice. and they are trying to find out the right dose
in order to try to start a clinical trial in humans i guess.
but yesterday - when i was really high - i realized that i have to start doing things to help myself other then sitting around smoking and waiting for meds to work. so im going to get a gym membership tomorrow because exercising helps you feel better and i am going to try tanning because that helps some people also [especially because the weather is so gray and nasty here -long island] so i believe it has been a positive thing for me at least.
this is just my experience - hope it helps!
Pot really isn't good to consume when you are manic. It generally makes you more hyper and more paranoid. It kind of fuels you to want to go faster...and if you're like me, pot has a hallucinatory effect, which can further increase paranoia and any manic-related hallucinations or delusions.
If you are stable, I'd say smoke go ahead and get stoned once and a while. But if it starts to really effect your mood when you aren't high, then stop for a while. It's a matter or moderation, just like ineverything else in life.

Manic-Depression Medication help?
I am taking Lithium and started out on a high dose.(prescribed by a doctor) After a week I started getting headaches and I would throw up at the same time every night. Then one night I was slurring in my speach. My dad actually thought i was high.
Now I am taking a lower dose. But has anyone had any negative symptoms from this medication?
Answer:
Talk to your doctor :)
One of the more complex aspects of the drug Lithium is that the therapeudic level (the amount that should be in your blood to help) is very close to the toxic level (enough to do serious harm).. it is very important that you take this EXACTLY as prescribed to minimize these complications.
You doctor should be starting you off at a low dosage and slowly building you up to what your healthy level should be. And, it takes time (sometimes a few weeks) for the body to adjust to all of this while it is happening.. too low of a dose will not do much of anything to help with your affliction.. too much will poison you. Your doctor should be taking blood tests to monitor the level of Lithium in your system. Changes in your weight and activity levels will alter the amounts in your blood as well. The doctor should also be testing thyroid and liver function. It is also important that you drink a LOT of water while you are on Lithium.. If you are not comfortable with how your body is reacting to the medication.. talk to your doctor about finding an alternative. It takes time (sometimes years) to find what works for you.
Lithium was the first medication approved for the treatment of bipolar disorder. It is by far the most stable and most consistent medication out there. And, it is the one that has had the most tests and trials done, so it is typically the first one that is prescribed.. but there are many, many more out there that can work just as well.
Concentrate on fixing the things YOU can control.. balanced diet, plenty of sleep, plenty of exercize.. minimizing the amount of stress in your life .. and taking your medications as prescribed.
I have been taking Lithium (and others) for years for bipolar disorder. I have more control over it than any doctor or medication, just by changing my lifestyle. Medications are only a small part of managing the illness.
Take the time to educate yourself all you can about the disorder.. if you can't understand what your doctor is saying or you are unsure of telling your doctor how you feel, they can't do as much to help.
Sorry this was so long :) I was once where you are.. long confusing journey, be patient with it. It gets better.

I have been on lithium since 1991. I take two 300mg in the morning and two in the evening before bed. I have been on higher doses and lower ones as well. The side effects I have had over the years are dry mouth, metallic taste in mouth which went away, affected my thyroid causing it to slow way down, and excessive thirst for water. I am manic/bipolar, the same thing, and I take the lithium to stabilize the mood swings. Over the many years I have tried other mood stabilizers but nothing has ever worked for me the way lithium has. It made such a major change in me that I have chosen to dealt with the side effects. Even though I know that it has caused my thyroid to stop and for me to gain alot of weight, when I weigh that with how crazy I use to feel I rather not feel crazy.
I know when I am manic, on the upside of the mood I feel high or euphoric sometimes, like I am on a drug. My talking even speeds up or my voice gets loud sometimes. I have a life now and I owe alot of it to lithium because it saved me in a way. I was spiritually and mentally sick and now I have a career and a good life.
i take lithium now. 450 mg a pill. 1 at 2 pm and 2 pills at night. at first i was sick to my stomach, but after lowered it should start to kick in. take my advice i have been on this for a year. your hands will tremble. dont worry about that. it will make you tire a little. stay away from the caffeine. and you will be thirsty all of the time. i drink water, juice, non caffeine coke, mt.dew, root beer and once a day i indulge in a dr. pepper. take care.
Those sound like the signs of a toxic amount on your body. And the margin between just enough and too much is a very fine line. That's why blood tests are important and monitoring your water/sodium/caffeine intake. All those can alter the level of lithium in your body.
In the beginning, I wasn't hydrating enough and would get dizzy, nauseous and headaches. Fortunately, downing plenty of water cured my side effects.
Go to;
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/drugi...
Look under side effects. You will find nausea, vomiting there.
Good work! for reporting these to your doctor.
You might find that you can tolerate the lower dose, especially after one or two weeks.
If problems continue, consult your doctor and he/she may consider another drug or combination of drugs.

I have tried and tried to take lithium, and always get really bad side-effects from it. My latest try is to add it on to lamictal, and take less than a therapeutic level of lithium, because it won't be the only mood stabilizer in my system.
Pluses:
prevents suicide very very well (no one knows why)
Effective antimanic agent
helps depression some (not as much as lamictal)
cheap!
Lithium is something that needs to be monitored regularly. It can be a fine line between therapeutic dose and toxic dosing. You should be aware of the common expected side effects and then signs of toxicity. What you described above sounds as though you were toxic. Lithium can be great for Bipolar, just educate yourself about the signs of toxicity so that you know when to get treatment. Keep followup appts with your doc and have periodic drug levels checked through blood work. If you are taking a lower dose and still experiencing toxic effects you still may need a change in dosage. Unfortunately, this medication can give you unwanted side effects, while effectively managing your bipolar symptoms; however many people take this without any problems (my stepmother never complained of any ill effects from it), but I have had patients in the hospital who would sometimes refuse the medication because of the side effects. I think you need to sit down with the doctor or nurse and have a list of questions and concerns about your medication and treatment. The nurse is certainly able to answer questions about side effects, etc.. (if you want to e-mail me, I will e-mail you more about this just write what you want answered and if I can I will, but it is late right now and I have to look up that info in my books; I'm too tired) Good luck!
