My brother is in year 7 %26 my mother went to a parent/teacher interview the other night. Each teacher said that his mind seems to wonder off during the whole class %26 his concentration is very low (even in the classes that he likes). Could there be any medical reason for this?

He could have petit mal epilepsy.
ADD (attention deficit disorder) or ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)
or he just gets really bored.
theres probly no medical reason he probly cant consontrate on the class.
He could be bored with school. He could also have ADHD. Your mom should talk to the pediatrician and see what need to be done. good luck!
Could be too much sugar..that will drop a kid real low after about twenty minutes. Could be he's not getting enough sleep. A twelve year old should get about 10 hours a night. Or, and this one is what happens to a lot of kids, he could have an above average I.Q. and just be bored out of his skull.
He might have ADD. But it might not be a medical problem at all. Maybe he is stressed out about something. Also, the material might not be enough of a challenge for him, which would mean he is bored. Another possibility is that the material is too much of a challenge for him, and he has given up.
kids daydream in school, I did it all the time, every child does it, dont let them just throw your kid brother on meds and call it solved maybe the teachers could start by getting him and every other child in class more involved, maybe even try to throw some fun and exciting lessons into class, maybe the classes dont challenge him enough.
I have had attention defecate disorder all my life if i was your mother i would get him diagnosed asap because it will ruin his life and ability to learn. having this problem can be very damaging to his self esteem and motivation .he will either give up on himself or possibly get involved with drugs and Alcohol because he will start to feel like he is stupid and cannot do anything get him help there is meds that can Change your brothers life for the better.
It sounds like he could have ADD. I am not a professional though and he will need to be evaluated by the school district. Especially if it is affecting him education.
