Lorazepam and librax? mixing?

Ativan? any experiences with this drug? what about librax?
my doc gave me atvan for ibs (0.5 mg) and he says to take just one at night and i also have librax wich he gave me a while ago (2.5mg) i was taking the librax twice daily but had bad side effects so i was switched to ativan will taking 2 or 4 of these ativans help me be more relaxed ( due to some stress ive been going through) and is it a good idae to take 2 libraxes during the day and and one or two ativans at night?
Answer:
Librax has a component that's called a benzodiazepine, which is the same family of medication that Ativan is in. It's not a good idea to take two benzos together--both can cause central nervous system depression. Also, benzos are addictive and have a life-threatening withdrawal if you abruptly get off them.

I would recommend talking to your doctor about both of the medications and asking him if he feels it is appropriate for you to take both. In my experience, Ativan is not a good long-term medication for anxiety given the addictive nature of it. There are lots of other medications that are not addictive that help with anxiety over the long-term, such as SSRI antidepressants.

Hope this helps.
side effects is a term created by big pharma to tell you "oops, I guess it might also do this to you". it would be more aptly called "other effects". they know these will happen but don't want you to be discouraged and not take their drugs. have you seen this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b30iwhew9...
