Manic depressive?

i think i am manic depressive because one ,min i am really happy in a high and then i go straight down and depressed thinking things bad
Answer:
True bipolar (manic depression) occurs in cycles usually lasting months and in rare cases (rapid cycling) weeks. Many components need to be meet including loss of sleep for substantial lengths of time. Moods that fluctuate on a minute to minute, hour to hour basis are not concidered manic depression. If you are concerned with your mood fluctuations, it would benefit you to talk with a doctor or therapist. It could be hormone, diet, lifestyle related, but not manic depression.
No, that does not seem to be bipolar disorder. Why are you considering a mental illness for yourself?
yes actually, this could be bipolar. because i was the same way..i never cycled in months or years..i cycled within weeks, but mostly days..in the morning i'd be on top of the world and life is great and a few hours later i would want to kill myself. everybody is different. i've been on meds for 4 years and been a lot better. you should see a psychiatrist and get their opinion..it can't hurt - they will know better then anyone on ByeDr.coms
I don't know if you are, but my advise to you go see your PCP then he/she will refer you to a psychologist. Either your PCP will give you meds or your psychologist. I hope you get the help you need. Good Luck !!
My daughter is bi-polor, she is 19 and I see this everyday; but there is more to it then being up one min and then being down. Have you seen a psychiatrist? These are a few other things that are known in people with this disorder.

-Taking chances/risky
-Suicide attempts
-Bad hygene, too depressed to get out of bed or in the shower for weeks.
-Severe mood swings
-Never happy unless manic
-Talking really fast
-Very immature
-No self esteem and low confidence
-Crying a lot

Everyone is different and there degree of the disorder, not everyone has the same symptoms. My best advice is to seek professional help, you can not go by having highs and lows; that is life. Good luck and for your sake I hope you and your family do not have too live through this disorder, it is not only really hard on the individual, but their families.
